ART IN MOTION

The City of Grants Pass Commitee of Public Art (CoPA) invites artists 18 years and older to submit original artwork in any 2-D or 3-D media with the exception of video/film, installation or performance art.
This public art project is essentially a gallery on wheels; art work is displayed as a sign on the side or back of three Josephine Community Transit buses. The art is there to engage people, expand public art visibility, create opportunities for the community to experience art in everyday life and enhance the overall artistic climate of the City of Grants Pass.
The Spring/Summer exhitition runs from March 26 – July 27, 2012

Every Saturday in the month, this outdoor market is a favorite with residents and tourists, the Growers’ Market is second only to the Rogue river as an area attraction. It showcases the finest fresh fruits and vegetables growing in the Southern Oregon region, as well as secondary wood products, gourmet specialty foods, artists and crafters. Members attend fro Medford, Butte Falls, Winston, Canyonville, Gold Hill, Roseburg and the Illinois Valley.

Leaves & small branches are collected and recycled free of charge for city residents (no businesses). Leaves must be bagged and tied. Branches should be tied in bundles and should not be more than 4 feet long or have a diameter of no more that 3 inches. Leaves and small branches must be placed on curb by 8am on the following pick-up days: NW area- Mondays, NE area – Tuesdays, SW areas – Wednesdays, & SE areas – Thursdays. Nothing over 40lbs and NO garbage, sod, dirt, grass clippings, rocks, gravel, or lumber is accepted. Yard waste may also be brought to JO GRO for $1/yd, $2 mimimum.

This program will bring you up to speed on the technical, financial, and educational assistance currently available for stewardship planning thinning and stand improvement, fuels/fire hazard reduction, wildlife enhancement and other forestry & conservation practices. Representatives from the Oregon Dept of Forestry, National Resources Conservation Service and other local agencies and organizations will be on hand to explain their programs and answer your questions. Funding is limited and requirements vary by program, but there are some opportunities out there for proactive landowners.
